Elon Musk Share List of Names Targeting Federal Workers! Elon Musk has recently drawn criticism for publicly targeting federal employees whose jobs he deems unnecessary. By sharing their identities and job titles on social media, Musk has prompted a wave of harassment from his followers, according to a report by CNN. Many of these individuals, who hold non-public roles, are now facing online abuse simply for working in positions that Musk has labeled as “fake.”
Federal Workers Face Online Abuse
This week, Musk amplified posts revealing the names and roles of four federal employees involved in climate policy. All four individuals are women, and their work directly intersects with Musk’s interests in climate regulation through his electric vehicle company, Tesla.

In one instance, Musk highlighted the position of a “Director of Climate Diversification” at the U.S. International Development Finance Corp. (DFC), an agency that helps protect U.S. infrastructure from natural disasters. Musk shared the post with the caption, “So many fake jobs.” Despite the technical nature of the role, the employee has since deactivated several social media accounts due to the backlash.
Targeting Public Figures and Government Officials
Musk also took aim at another federal worker — Nancy Pelosi’s niece, who serves as a senior adviser on climate change at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). A post criticizing her $181,648 salary was retweeted by Musk, who sarcastically added, “But maybe her advice is amazing 🤣🤣.” The post also named other climate officers, including one at the Department of Energy who had previously helped secure a $465 million loan for Tesla in 2010.
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)
These incidents reflect the goals of the so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), an unofficial initiative spearheaded by Musk and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. While DOGE has no formal authority, Musk and Ramaswamy are reportedly working with Trump-aligned politicians like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to influence legislation aimed at cutting federal jobs they view as unnecessary.
Climate of Fear Among Federal Employees
Musk’s targeting of federal workers has created a climate of fear. Missy Cummings, a former senior adviser at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), shared her experience of being targeted by Musk in 2021. Following his public criticism, Cummings received death threats, had to leave her home temporarily, and deleted her social media accounts.
Cummings believes Musk’s actions are intended to intimidate federal employees into resigning. “His plan, to some extent, is working,” she told CNN, noting that some employees are already leaving their positions due to the harassment.
Musk’s Controversial Influence
Musk’s recent behavior highlights his growing influence over public discourse and government policy. By leveraging his vast social media following, he is not only spotlighting government roles he deems unnecessary but also contributing to a hostile environment for public servants. As federal employees face increasing intimidation, the long-term impact on government operations and climate policy remains uncertain.
